Black & White & Grumble All Over

Been in a Grumble sort of mood I guess.  Most recently wore outfits that are mostly Grumble.  The black and white one posed in front of the fountain at SF Design's formal wear is all Grumble, boots to top.  Except for the jewelry and hair.  The white outfit is nearly all Grumble except for the pendant, hair and top.  The top is from Baby Monkey, the location is back at the vast Rose Theater.

TG Beauty Queen Ousted

It seems a very lovely woman, named Jenna Talackova, who was born male and has gone through reassignment surgery, was expelled from the Miss Universe Canada contest.  You can read about it at Yahoo news.

My thoughts are that if there was no rule requiring that contestants be born female before she entered, then that is wrong.  If there was, then she should not have entered.  I don't condone such a rule, but entering under false pretenses of any kind is not right.  Also, if they did expel her without a pre-existing rule, then these people are the worst kind of bigots, hypocritical ones hiding behind "The Establishment."

I don't really like beauty pageants as they are commonly done.  They epitomize many of the things I think are wrong about how our western society views women.

And if you think guys can't be as beautiful as women, check this out. Google Image Search for Andrej Pejic.

Back in Black.

I wonder if one of the reasons so many submissives in SL approach me about topping them is my wardrobe?  I like black.  In RL and in SL.  And in SL it seems that if you wear black it's sort of visual code for dominant.  Pink seems to be visual code for submissive.  I think too many people rely on those visual queues.  Anyway, I do wear a lot of black.

For example, a leather vest, black mesh shirt and leather pants all from ADN.  Though each is from a different outfit.  BDR hair, jewelry from Grumble and some freebie boots.  The sunglasses are also freebies and I think must be very very old.  No sculpty work in them at all and very few prims.  I tweaked them quite a bit before I liked them enough to wear.

Then there is dress from Nyte'N'Day, fur trimmed leather shrug from ADN and shoes from Baby Monkey with a blond do from Grumble.  Or, a top from Pixiedolls, cords from ADN and boots from Grumble with my favorite Bryce hair.

The first snapshot was taken at Kowloon, a pretty famous "tourist" stop in SL.  The middle one was taken at the new Ladyboy Beach.  And the last, once again at my stopping grounds, Pair A Dice.

Happy Anniversary to Me.

Just hit me after I made my postings for today, that this blog is now one whole year old.

Que the cheering!

Okay, enough of that.

O' Caledon!?

I was recently showing a newcomer to Second Life around and took them to Oxbridge College at Caledon.  I have no idea why I've not mentioned this place before.  Caledon is a great place to visit, something like twenty plus sims full of Steampunk wackiness and friendly creative tolerant people.  There are trains and airships that will carry you about the vast estate and let you see the sights.  There is so much, I don't even know where to start, other than to say, you really should go see it.

Please note that it is not adult, and asks folks to respect "Victorian" sensibilities a bit.  Meaning, please dress, and if practical, dress somewhat formally and in period.  If I can figure out what to highlight, I'll post more on this huge and delightful place where I've spent hours and hours exploring in times past.

Note: 6/2012 - If you would like to wear a nice outfit that fits the steampunk theme, Blakopal always has a free out for both men and women at the main shop.

Blow the man down.

Not feeling really perky today, so getting to the point...

Since I'd worn two of my three skirts from Blowup, I decided to opt for that on my next time into SL.  Then, when I returned later, I got to showing someone around the Pair A Dice sim, which is where all the snapshots are taken.  And decided on a rather risque look.  Lastly, the next evening, feeling more like a night out dancing, I went with a club look.

First: The red plaid skirt is blowup, the short jacket my favorite from B@R.  Tie from Mimi's, pasties and shoes I picked up years ago and don't remember where.  Socks are from Baby monkey.  Hair is from Sirena and has color changing removable scrunchies.

Second: A ripped up wench's dress from Copper For Your Fancy.  Copper makes the best "Wench" dresses I've ever seen, in different colors and states ranging from quite prim and well cared for, to rather care worn, to ripped to rags.

Last: An off the shoulder LBD from SF Designs, along with a belt from that same shop.  The belt comes with a system skirt, but it works well with other things, such as this dress which also uses a system skirt.  Hair and shoes are from Grumble.

Blowing Up on the Beach!

One of my favorite old hangouts, Ladyboy Beach, has been reincarnated.  Not exactly the same, but very close.  Been there the last couple of times I've been on.  Good music stream, good dance ball, friendly folks.  What more can you ask for?  Oh, huts with naughty stuff, they have those too.

Speaking of which, I love Blowup skirts.  But since my avatar has snake hips, to get them to fit correctly I have to shrink them way down.  This means I have to wear some undies with them, or be very naughty indeed.  I also picked up some "strapped" platform boots from Grumble recently.  In blue and red.  I haven't worn my blow up skirts much lately, so decided to remedy that.

First snapshot is me in a mostly ADN outfit with a blowup skirt and my favorite hat.  Boots from Grumble.  The next shows me in some awesome platform boots from a shop whose name escapes me, but if you love them and want a pair, IM me in world and I'll find out.  The skirt is blowup, the top is grumble, as is the hair.  Last, I'm wearing a vest from Blackopal with a very low cut pair of suspender pants from ADN.  The boots are Grumble and the mohawk is Bryce.

BTW: The girl behind me is really a very well done prim sculpture.  When I first saw it I almost said hi, then I realized it had no name bubble. :)

St. Patrick's

I was only on very briefly on St. Patrick's day this year, I wasn't feeling well unfortunately.  But I made it on long enough to put on my Shamrock covered dress from Grumble and tint some BDR hair green for the occasion.  The background is Lar's, still on my list of stops and still with some good DJ's even though there is now a new location.  Evidently they were filling up the sim too often, so it seems like they have extended and split the club across sim lines, which pushes maximum capacity up.

Hope you had a great holiday.

Cheeky!

I guess I would be considered one of the "builders" in Second Life.  I make things.  Though I'm definitely pretty minor league, and consider myself more a tinker than a builder.  More likely to modify some full perm content to suit me, than to make something from scratch, but sometimes, you just have to make if you want it a certain way.

I recently made my first "prim hair."  I used a full perm texture and make a simple pony tail to wear with a neat Mesh Cap I picked up.  That cap, along with a top from BDR, jean shorts from Random Fashions, Tattoo layer hair from Truth, Socks & sunglasses from Grumble and sneakers from Hoorenbeek make up my outfit from 3/15.

The other outfit below...Well, let's just say since I changed my blog to adult I thought I could be a bit more risque with my daily choices.  The blond hair is from BDR, the jacket is from B@R, the boots can be had a number of places.  Jewelry is a mixture of ADN and Grumble.  Tattoo on my lower back is mine.  As you can see, the picture is more Maxim than Hustler.  Even though this blog is now considered adult, I don't intend to get overly naughty.  Just a bit...Cheeky.

Beautiful, Yes! Dirty & Rich...Maybe.

I was hanging out at Velvet Crossing again, and ran into someone who had very similar tastes.  We started trading shopping tips and subsequently went on a freebie spree of near epic proportions.  Hitting places like Plausible Body and In Her Shoes.  We talked about Tesla, ADN & Grumble.  Then we visited Beautiful Dirty Rich.

BDR bills itself as a Neko fashion place.  But the stuff there is pretty diverse.  I didn't see any formal wear or "costumes."  But lots of outfits, many of them inexpensive and cute...Or even better, free and cute.  But best of all, is the wall of free hair!  Something like two dozen styles, most are in some slightly unusual colors, like coral or dark purple.  But they are well made and attractive hair.  And some are in more typical colors like blond or black.  BDR is definitely worth the visit!

That said, below I'm in pink again.  This time wearing a cute little dress from BDR in vivid pink with some heels I've had forever.  My pink leather B@R jacket and some hair from BDR.  The other outfit is pretty much Grumble head to foot.  Shoes, dress, sunglasses & hair.  Jewelry is from various places and I made the clutch. You may also notice both these outfits involve micro-mini skirts.  Both are the rare exception of a textured prim that seems to match well with the clothing layer under most lighting conditions.

I am going to take days to work though all the swag from this last spree, so will probably be wearing a lot of BDR.  Hope you are having a good time in your lives as well.

Angry words, good or bad?

This is the first posting I've made here, to which I hope I get a responding comment.  The others are more informational to any who might come by, and/or for my own amusement.  So comments, while they might be of interest, were not my goal.

However, I'm curious about something.  Some years ago I did some online dating. And I went on some dates, some successful, some not.  One thing all of these people I dated had in common, was they lacked what I quickly learned to be code phrases for, "I'm pissed at someone else and ready to take it out on you."  Among the most common was, "I don't play games."  Another thing I learned to be leery of were things like, "I have a good sense of humor."  To me it seemed like showing, not saying, was a better indicator of whether we might both agree on that.

So, time passes, I find Second Life and go there to learn to build.  After I get there I find myself enraptured by the shear wonder and creativity of this virtual world.  And, I find it a great place to explore some sides of my personality that are impractical in RL.  I've learned many things about myself in the three years I've been in SL.  Some lessons were much more fun than others.

One thing I've learned is that there are many code phrases in SL profiles.  Things like, "I don't like drama."  Which seems to translate to, "I don't like your drama, I want all the attention on me."  Or some version of "I keep SL and RL separate."  Means you are hiding something.  Which is fine, we all are.  But that's like walking around going, "I've got a secret!"

There are more, many more, such code phrases.  And countless variations on them.  But one theme to many of them, is "I am angry at someone, and I'm ready to take it out on you."

Admittedly, a good number of folks probably deserve to suffer for another, being as they have done the exact same thing to still someone else.  But is that good for one's soul?  To face everyone with a pronouncement stapled to your back that says, "I hate you, whoever you are."

I have anger issues.  Always have.  Keep them under control as much as I possibly can.  I've put angry words in my profile a couple of times, only to come back a short time later and remove them. My profile used to be even more open and approachable, but I've learned that most seem to ignore the information I put there.  And lately, mostly, I've been very disappointed with those who do seem to approach me.

So, I wonder, would it better, for their benefit, and my own of course, to put some angry words in my profile?   Things like, "I'm a bitch at times."  Or "I'm not a submissive.  I am not looking for an owner, daddy, mommy or anything similar!"  Or maybe a simple, "I'm complicated, try and fit me into a box at your peril?"

Oopsie!

I was going through my snapshots from the last few weeks that I have done as part of my "daily outfit" log, and found I'd missed posting the one for February 22nd!  It's me in my favorite "naughty" shorts from Jomo, my favorite hat from Baby Monkey, a loose sleeveless T-shirt and sneakers from Grumble.  Yesterday I was on twice.  In the morning I was feeling a bit droopy and it was all rainy in RL.  So I put on a rain coat from B@R and some killer heels from B&G.  (And nothing else, I was feeling a bit naughty too.)  Then I found this neat sim that sells a storm generator, the place is called Monsoon.  So I set the climate to rainy and took some snapshots.  If you enlarge the picture you should be able to see of the rain drops falling around me.  Last, when I came back in the evening a friend invited me to come with him to a birthday party.  The theme was masquerade.  I could have gone dressy, but I didn't want to waste a bunch of time matching things, or searching for a domino mask in my vast inventory, so I just put on my Freebie jester outfit from Fallen Gods.

I like my hat!

Haven't been on too much last couple of days, haven't felt real well.  But I did manage to visit briefly and here are the outfits I wore.  The sweater outfit shot was taken at the ADN shop.  The pants and boots are from there.  The sweater and hair are from grumble.  The other shot was taken at the Rose Theater.  I'm wearing my Baby Monkey hat and a suit by Silent Sparrow.

It's all grown up now!

I recently changed the setting on my blog to adult.  Originally it was set that way, but I found myself posting some pretty innocuous things.  Or at least I considered them such.  Then I went to watch LMFAO's I'm Sexy and I Know it video and I had to sign in because it was rated adult content!?

I figured if Google can rate that adult, then some of the gender issues and things I want to discuss and some of the more sexy snapshots might be considered adult.  Not wanting to get into trouble with big brother, I said, "Screw it!" and changed the setting.

So that's why you have to agree to move on now, even though as of this date, I'd still consider all the content PG-13 at best, or worst, considering how you look at it.

Hats & Hairs

I've been in a hat mood lately.  And when not wearing a hat, been wearing some unusual hair.  Among them blond.  Being as my avatar looks like the only way it could ever be blond would be with the generous application of peroxide, I don't do that too often.  But hey, I have my moods.

I also was on SL twice in one day on the 7th and feeling kinda naughty in the morning.  On the 6th, I was about looking country.  Some boonie stomper boots, a fine hat, some jeans and a shirt.  On the 7th, in the morning, I wore those shorts I got at Jomo, a prim top and went blond.  In the evening I was all sweet and denim with a nice straw hat.

Go to the Mountain!

One of the first "scenic" places I ever visited in SL was the recreation of Mont St. Michel.  A historical sight I've always wanted to visit in RL.  You can read about it, and see a picture at Wikipedia.  It looks kinda like Minas Tirith meets Hogwarts.  Probably inspired both in part.  I imagine a lame goat herd and six cub scouts with sling shots could stand off a mongol horde from this place!  Anyway, a friend asked me to help them find a shop located here, so while I was wearing my fine mesh Yakuta outfit we wandered around it for a good while.  Which sort of fit in, a lot of Japanese shops are located in this sim....

I highly recommend it as a place to visit.

Below is a shot of me in the cathedral at the top of the citadel.  It's quite a lovely place!

Leather, Snow, Kiminos & Vampires...Oh My!

Okay, between stuff going on in my personal life, and the rather awful weather, I've been just a tad stressed.  The result in my visits to SL tend be extreme outfits...So:

For leap year, I went blue.  An outfit from Monique's with hair and boots from other vendors.  The locale, as it is so often, is Pair A Dice.  The next day I was feeling a bit more...Death Dealer-ish.  So I channeled Selene a bit.  The outfit is from Dark Designs.

I was kind of distracted for a bit.  When next I logged in, I ended up with this look?

This outfit is from [aDN].  The jewelry and boots from Grumble.  The hair?  The mohawk is from Bryce, which I think has the best "guy" hair in SL.  And the tattoo layer is from Truth.  I made the face stripe myself after watching too many Adam Ant videos on you tube.
So the next time I log in I decide to try out a mesh outfit I picked up free from Curious Kitties.  It's a really nice Yukata.  I think it's the best traditional Japanese outfit I've yet found in SL.  Traditional Japanese formal garb just has not lent itself to the clothing layer and flex approach.

And last but not least.  After it snowed where I live in RL.  I just wanted to feel warm.  So I ended up with an outfit from [aDN].

Sympathies Extended

I live in Kentucky in the USA.  We recently had some awful tornadoes sweep through the region.  I, thankfully, was missed by mother nature's ban hammer.  But others were not so lucky.  My sympathies and best wishes.
